The last week of construction

The crews are putting the finishing touches on our house so that we will be ready to move in on Nov. 6. This will include the installation of carpet and granite countertops.

The carpenters installed the exterior doors in the house, and shelves for the bedrooms and master closets.

More lights today!

The lighting guys continued installing interior lights, and completed all of the exterior lights as well. Hopefully, our cabinets will be completed and installed this weekend, so that the rest of the painting and wood floors can be finished.

Let there be light!

Today, the electricians began installing the lights, fans, and outlet/switch covers. Our cabinet guy is holding up work on cove mouldings and final painting. We will soon finalize dates for countertop installation, and the finish coat on the wood floors, Looking toward a moving date of Nov. 2.

The painters have completed the basement and about half of the main floor rooms. Hopefully, the cabinets will be installed soon, so the painters can finish their job and the electricians can install the lights.

Posts and deck

John and his crew built the front porch posts by covering the existing posts with white wood, with trim top and bottom. They also installed railings on the deck. They will return this week to finish the deck stair rail, and the porch railings.

SOD TODAY!

Bob and his landscape crew laid the sod today, and it looks beautiful! We watered twice today, which is the standard for new sod. Supposedly, next week is going to be cool and rainy, which will make our job easier.

Today, Bob's landscape crew finished the final smoothing and shaping of our new lawn. The plan is for the lansdscapers to begin laying sod on Monday.

Paint and cabinets

The house is finally taking its final shape. The driveway is dry now and will be ready for driving on early next week. The final painting is underway, the stair treads have been installed, together with the hand rail. The trim carpenters are almost finished, and the electricians will soon install the lights, fans and chandeliers. This week will see the finish grading, seeding, and laying of sod. The tentative finish date for construction is mid-October.
